SLIDE TACKLE: Most facilities ban slide tackle for any level of players, and many of them ban any play when players are on the ground.

As general rule: In indoor soccer, there is no slide tackling.

Slide tackling is when you slide, very much like a baseball slide, and try to kick the ball away from the player who is currently in possession of the ball. Very often in a slide tackle, the slider will also "get" some of the other player’s leg along with the ball.

The no slide tackle rule in indoor soccer is due to prevent injury, as well as there is not enough room on the playing surface to execute a safe slide tackle for both you and the person you are tackling.

For example, a rule from a facility in Colorado explain clearly: “No slide tackles allowed. You can’t play the ball while on the ground. A knee touching on the ground will be interpreted as being “on the ground”. The penalty for a slide tackle is a direct kick at the point of infraction for the non-offending team.”

In facilities that play under North Texas State Soccer rules, slide tackle is banned only for COED games:

SLIDE TACKLES: Slide tackles against an opponent shall be considered dangerous play and are not permitted. A two (2) minute time penalty is mandatory for slide tackle. EXCEPTION: Goalkeeper in his own penalty arch is allowed to slide tackle if not done in a dangerous manner .

While the rule has not and explanation about what is slide tackle, most referee are calling as infraction any attempt to play the ball while on the ground, explaining that as a dangerous play.
