PENALTY KICK: (As usual in this website, I am taking North Texas State Soccer Association rules as example, but regularly most of states and facilities rule are similar).
PK is relatively new in indoor soccer. A penalty kick is awarded against a team, which while the ball is in play commits within its own penalty area (or area within the goal) one of the fouls listed in Rule 12.15.1 which warrants a time penalty. A penalty kick can be awarded irrespective of the position of the ball at the time an offense is committed The list of these kind of foul:
A PK is kicked from Penalty Kick Mark (most facilities still have not this mark on the field) : A 9” circular mark made within the Penalty Area twenty-four (24) feet from the midpoint of the goal line. Basically the procedure for PK is the same that in outdoor. A mistake that sometime I saw is that referees are not showing the blue card when they call a PK, but in my opinion blue card must be showed in this situation.
